The Muslim community in France uses escargot snails in various dishes, a practice that raises concerns among the Muslim community in Malaysia. There are even some restaurants in Malaysia that offer a menu of dishes based on snails. The Federal Territories Mufti Department has stated that the law on eating snails is haram according to the Syafie sect and not haram in the view of other sects. This shows that there is a difference of opinion among the four sects. Thus, this article aims to look at the methodology of arguments based on the four sects against the law of eating escargot snails. Scholars can use this study as a reference to delve deeper into the fiqh legal debate among the four schools. This research method is qualitative in descriptive form and uses the content analysis method. The results of this study found that escargot snails are illegal to eat according to jumhur fuqaha’, namely the Hanafi, Shafie, and Hambali sects. On the other hand, the Maliki sect is halal to eat.
